Leading with clear communication

As countries continue to battle Covid-19 and take the next steps towards returning to some kind of normality, it is crucial leaders remain focused, and communicate with clarity, consistency & empathy.

The rollout of vaccines across the world, including in Australia, is beginning to bear fruit with substantial falls in COVID cases and deaths in Europe, the United States and Israel in particular.

Pressure on the Australian Government to open borders is likely to continue as families long to reconnect and businesses seek to get up and running again.

There are clearly challenges and risks ahead with opening up and trying to return to a life like that prior to the pandemic.  The process must be a staged and carefully calibrated process if we want to retain the relative safe and “normal” existence we currently enjoy.

This transition will require our leaders to explain their decision-making process simply, clearly and consistently & how they will mitigate the potential risks.

After all, one of the biggest challenges will be managing public expectations to help ensure as smooth a transition as possible into the ‘new normal’.
